Pet owners may be surprised by the decision, one that is gaining popularity across the United States.
Buc-ee’s Has A Few Lesser Known Rules Customers May Not Know About
Aside from the recent sign customers encountered at Buc-ee’s, the popular convenience store has other lesser-known rules travelers may not know about. Among them is leaving a car in a Buc-ee’s parking lot. On its website under its FAQs page, the store confirms that it is not allowed.
“No. In our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our customers, we cannot accommodate vehicles for an extended amount of time in our lots.”
In addition to leaving a vehicle in the parking lot, customers are also prohibited from resting in the parking area. Once again, Buc-ee’s confirmed it cannot accommodate vehicles for extended periods.

The popular travel center has now expanded on another rule that customers continue to notice at its locations nationwide in the U.S. Recently, a customer encountered a sign just before entering the store banning pets.

This particular Buc-ee’s customer hadn’t visited the travel center in quite some time. Upon entry, they were surprised to learn that Buc-ee’s had posted a new sign banning pets.
The person wrote on Reddit, “I very rarely go to Buc-ee’s so I haven’t been in a while but my kid had a job interview next door so I stopped in to use the bathroom. I love this addition to their doors. I love that businesses are slowly taking their buildings back from the entitled dog owners.”
While the sign confirms pets are not allowed, service animals can still access the store with their owners.
The sign states, “No pets allowed. Service animals are trained to do work or perform a task for persons with disabilities.”
Hundreds online reacted to Buc-ee’s new ban. A large majority of customers agree with the ruling and would like to see similar signs elsewhere.

In addition to the ban on comfort animals, Buc-ee’s has also confirmed that emotional support animals are prohibited from entering its locations.
Buc-ee’s Confirmed Emotional Support Pets Are Also Prohibited
Following the rules of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Buc-ee’s also confirmed a ban on emotional support pets.
The sign adds, “Emotional support or comfort animals are not service animals, and are not recognized by the ADA.”
The U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division confirms the ruling, stating support, therapy, comfort or companion animals are not considered under the ADA.
“These terms are used to describe animals that provide comfort just by being with a person. Because they have not been trained to perform a specific job or task, they do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. However, some State or local governments have laws that allow people to take emotional support animals into public places. You may check with your State and local government agencies to find out about these laws,” the ruling states.
Travelers visiting Buc-ee’s locations are advised to follow its rules regarding pets. Service animals still have full access, while other types of pets are no longer allowed at its locations. Buc-ee’s has not specified sanctions for bringing unauthorized pets into its travel centers just yet.
