On Wednesday, delays and cancellations continued at BOS as a result of another ground stop. JetBlue, the major airline at BOS, faced its own struggles, which were blamed on issues beyond weather.

The Boston area faced more heavy rain on Wednesday, disrupting flights at Boston Logan International Airport. The FAA issued a ground stop for thunderstorms, which later turned into a departure delay with an average time of 45 minutes. Boston Logan International Airport wasn’t the only major U.S. hub to experience heavy delays. Denver International Airport also faced a ground stop due to thunderstorms, with delays averaging close to two hours.
According to FlightAware data, BOS had the second most cancellations worldwide among all airports on July 22 due to the ground stop, while Denver International Airport had the most delays.
Looking ahead to July 23, Boston Logan International Airport currently has the most cancelled departures among U.S. airports.

Passengers at Boston Logan International Airport have had a frustrating experience in recent days, facing lengthy delays with few updates.
Even Experienced Travelers Were Frustrated By The Delays At BOS
User “Jahon” on X was one of the passengers who experienced a meltdown at BOS, stemming from JetBlue’s struggles out of the hub. The experienced traveler revealed they had never faced these types of delays before.
“Air travel has become unbearable. Nothing but delays / cancellations. An experienced traveler, I’ve never seen this level of compounded industry shoddiness. The leader of the meltdown seems to be @JetBlue , whom I won’t fly with again.”
Another traveler stated that due to the negative experience at BOS, they’ll consider other airlines moving forward after JetBlue performance issues.
“Was a longtime JetBlue flyer; Boston hub, lots of flights. I am still overweight JB miles. But now they are last on my list. Am willing to deal with Logan’s dreaded and ancient Terminal B, just to avoid JetBlue,” user SGL wrote on X.
For JetBlue customer Matt Hannaford, switching over to JetBlue from BOS proved to be a mistake. The passenger was delayed over two hours, with little updates.
“Was hoping @JetBlue would end up being better than @united since we had to use them to get to MCO even though we booked through United. Now….another delay. 2.5 hours so far and the plane we are supposed to board in about an hour is currently about to leave Boston.”
It has been a tough couple of days for travelers. The major U.S. airlines were affected by disruptions at BOS, though JetBlue struggled the most, facing additional system issues behind the scenes.

Captain Wayne Scales, chairman of the JetBlue Master Executive Council and a member of the Air Line Pilots Association, spoke out about the airline’s difficulties this week. Scales revealed issues extended beyond weather.
“The conditions for customers were often made worse with unnecessary and extensive delays across JetBlue’s entire network. In addition to customers scrambling for alternative arrangements, crews were unable to be positioned where they were needed most due to ongoing outages in the Company’s scheduling system. JetBlue’s Crew Scheduling department was effectively unreachable, with pilots experiencing hours-long hold times. Many pilots and crews were left stranded at the airport as the Company failed to even provide overnight accommodations.”
Scales added that operations were being restored, while the carrier did its best to restore its customers’ confidence. JetBlue, along with Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Airlines, offered passengers flexible rebooking for flights out of BOS in recent days, waiving change fees.
